Hyper-Metrix is the personal web-site of a freelance web-developer who is dedicated to creating next-gen web-site interfaces and innovative visual-audio software. I specialize in the view and control layers of web applications and have many years freelance experience with globally recognized companies. I am extremely passionate about delivering information comprehensively, while providing a slick user-experience through intuitive control interfaces. Case-in-point: the moving logo you see above is actually a UI element that contains links. It is not Flash, it is not Silverlight, it is just Javascript, HTML5, sweat and innovation. OK maybe not sweat.

I asked A.I. Alice what hyper-metrix means, to which she replied "I need time to formulate the reply." It almost seemed as if she was making a joke, referring to "hyper" as the reply and "time" as the metric; But actually, she responds that way to anything you ask her. Being slightly more intelligent than artificial, I can tell you what hyper-metrix means to me personally. In practical terms it means I spend way too many hours thinking about hyper-text based information and the crazy amount of measuring and tweaking that comes into play making web-sites. In a more philosophical sense, I take it to mean "information beyond measurement". (ie: a disc does not increase in weight when the density of the information stored on it increases; alluding to the theory that meaning itself has no physical property). But all that aside... I just thought it "hyper-metrix" sounded cool and nobody had grabbed the domains yet. :-]
hyper - Prefix meaning above, excessive, or beyond.
metric - A standard for measurement.

I believe in the Open Source ideal, that individual progress should be shared among the community for the benefit of all. In a time when old business models and mechanical rights controls are quickly becoming obsolete, we are ever reminded that ownership is always outweighed by expertise.
Pushing forward the boundaries of web technology is an exciting journey paved with learning and innovation. As well as developing on behalf of my clients, I produce Open Source software like the The Burst Engine which empowers designers & programmers to create Flash-like animations in JavaScript, removing the need for end-users to download any 3rd party software.

I have designed and developed user interfaces for web sites such as Processingjs.org, Fraser Yachts and Laithwaites. I specialize in creating modern JavaScript-driven interfaces that use HTML5 technology that accurately reflect the state of the application and degrade gracefully in older browsers.

I have been programming web sites since I was fifteen and started working professionally with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, XML & Flash after I left college. I have worked with top London web-design agencies like the otherMedia & Inaria Design, producing prototypes for sites such as Kiss The Planet, Standfords Business Mapping, ECB Blogs, Carers Professional and Lava Ignite.

I enjoy developing web-applications and collaborating on community projects using web technologies like: jQuery, Comet, AJAX, Google AJAX APIs and Object Oriented programming techniques in PHP, JAVA & JavaScript. If you have an interesting project that you need help with, need someone to bounce some ideas off, or just want to spam me with lolcats, I would love to hear from you.

Back in London I used to spend a lot of time running a VJing service with a small group of good friends: liminal. We performed live video mixes to live music, installed interactive video-art at events such as: Hamswell Festival, London Mass, Radical Beats, Liquid Kandi & The Mission. If you are need a VJ for an event, or you live in Boston and experiment with video-performance art yourself... make sure you send me a quick email, maybe we can shake Bean-Town into the modern era.

I have provided 2D & 3D animation using Flash, After Effects, Blender3D & have produced bespoke software applications for digital media studios. I have animated stings, logos and visualizations, edited video, recorded sound effects and written score for television adverts, clubs, corporate video installations and television documentaries.
Presenting J.A.I. The world's first javascript audio interface. JAI runs on the new HTML5 technology in Firefox 3.5 like <audio>, <canvas> & <svg> and is designed to offer juke box functionality for audio-enabled browsers.
I have recently had the pleasure of developing the official Processingjs.org web site for jQuery inventor: John Resig and the ever growing Processing.js community at Google Groups. If you have not tried it yet... GET PROCESSING!
Fraser Yachts is a global Yacht sale and chartering company with the most beautiful collection of maritime vessels imaginable. I created the HTML/CSS/Javascript prototype for their new website while working freelance at Inaria Design in London.
